While listening to CBS Sunday Morning, I was thinking about the choice between saving a mother’s life or the child’s life during time of a health threat. In this segment, the story was the mother’s life was saved at the expense of the child who was aborted. I am not going into the Catholic Church controversy over abortion that was also discussed but would rather suggest a useful procedure in these choices.

The church obviously has its perspective. What about God’s personal one? God knows each and every individual as well as the blueprint for their life. God has the whole picture in mind. By learning to access God’s opinion directly, each and every one of us has the opportunity to ascertain what would be the highest and best choice for the particular situation at hand. Getting the answers directly from God alleviates the necessity to fall back on general decisions and rules of any organization or on man’s limited perspective. God has the ability to elaborate on each situation on a case-by-case basis by taking into consideration all aspects.

We all have a choice as to whether we go within to ask God within what is best for us in any given situation. Otherwise we tend to go outside of ourselves and ask people for their opinion or rely on an organization’s standards to make decisions for us.

I don’t necessarily know what is the highest and best choice at any given time in my life. That is why I prefer asking God. I know He has the big picture and as my best interests, as well as all those concerned, at heart.

I asked God what He thought of this subject and this was His response:

The subject of abortion is a tricky one. No one should be taking the life of another. It is not your role. It is mine. It is my choice who should live or die. I, however, do not want to see anyone die but of their own accord. You choose your own death in more ways than one. You, however, do not have the role of choosing someone else’s death. That you should leave up to the individual as they each have been given free will. I gave that free will to each and every one of you to exercise as you see fit.

I see the big picture, as you say, and can guide you to best action, but it is up to you whether or not you adhere to the recommendation I provide.
