This is a message from a conversation I had with my father who now resides in heaven:
Things are very different here. The vantage point we have from this side is quite extraordinary. We see things we could never imagine from your side. When you are on this side, the things we see are from a much broader perspective. We see the big picture. We see the cause of struggle, for example. We see why we created the circumstances that we did and what we intended to learn from them as well as how we did learning the lesson. We often shirk our lessons because they are too painful to endure at the time, but once we do learn them, they disappear as if they never occurred at all.
We remember the lesson but not the pain. That is the beauty of pain. It teaches us something but once we learn and accept the pain, we can move on from it and leave it behind. Those of us who choose to carry around the pain with us, however, continue to live the pain. That too is another lesson that needs to be learned. Let go of the pain and you will live free and clear. Carry your painful memories forward with you and you keep the pain alive.
